Beginner's Guide: How To Become a UGC Creator 101

01. Your Social Accounts = Your Digital Resume

Listen up, babes! Your social profiles are your resume when you're starting out. Brands will stalk your socials harder than your ex, so it's time to delete those drunk high school pics.

Remember, you're aiming for brand deals. THIS IS NOT A PERSONAL ACCOUNT. Yes, this applies even for you 'lifestyle creators' out there. Your feed is your portfolio, so curate it like your future paycheck depends on it – because, spoiler alert, it kinda does!

02. Content Creation: Fake It Till You Make It (But Make It Good)

I'm all for being delulu & faking it till you make it, but let's get real for a sec. You need to be able to create good content. We're talking filming in 4K, hooks so strong they could catch a whale, and aesthetics that would make 2016 Alexis Ren jealous (you know I'm an aesthetic girlie).

BBFR (Be For Real) - is your content actually good, or are you being delulu? (Said with love, of course). If you're not sure, get some honest feedback from your brutally honest friend. You know, the one who told you that haircut was a mistake.

03. Portfolio

If you want to be a UGC creator, this is non-negotiable. Would you walk into a job interview without a resume? NO. So why would you do it now?

Keep it focused on your content. DO NOT write a "What's UGC" section. If the brand is hiring you for UGC, you don't need to explain what it is - I promise you they know.

Keep your "about me" section short & sweet. Only put your best content in there. Think of it as your Instagram highlight reel, but for your career.

04. Reach Out: Time to Slide Into Those Brand DMs

Now you're a newbie creator, which is amazing! But here's the tea - no brands know who you are. So let's fix that. Start pitching to mid-size brands & ask to work together.

We're creators, not journalists, so keep it short & focused on how you can help THEM. I know, I know, you want free products and that paycheck, but keep your pitch about them.

Remember, your first pitch might not land you a Revolve collab, but every 'no' is just practice for your next 'yes'.

Bonus Tips for the Overachievers

1. Stay on Trend: UGC is all about authenticity, but that doesn't mean you can't be trendy. Keep an eye on what's hot on TikTok and Instagram.

2. Engage, Engage, Engage: Comment on brand posts, interact with other creators. Create connections.

3. Be Consistent: Post regularly. Brands love creators they can rely on.

4. Learn Basic Editing: A little polish can go a long way.
